The Science of Black Hair Forum is offering scholarships to young men and women of color who will be pursuing any form of study during the 2012-2013 school year. The Scholarship Contest is open to High School, College, Technical and Graduate School students.
Applicants must complete an application and write a reflective essay describing how their textured hair has affected various aspects of their lives from dating, to career choice, self esteem, family relationships, etc. NOTE: This scholarship essay competition is HIGHLY competitive. Quality is key. There will be many entries, so show us your best work! You may write about your hair memories, challenges, triumphs, and anything hair-related that has impacted your life in any way. Be creative! Funny, serious - we want to hear about it. Tell us your hair story!

Applicants must:
1. Register a screen name on The Science of Black Hair Forum. www.blackhairscience.com/forum
2. Be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in an accredited educational institution, course, or program of study in Fall 2012. Proof of enrollment (or acceptance) is required before funds will be disbursed. Checks will be made payable to the institution.
3. Complete an application form and submit an essay.
Essay submissions must be typed, 12 pt font, 1-inch margins, and cannot exceed 2 pages (single or double spaced). Take your time, and give it careful thought. We are looking for strong writing and well-crafted essays and stories that really stand apart from the crowd.
4. Include a clear, current personal photo.
5. Any person, of any age, male or female may apply!
